Project meeting Gdansk - Poland 27th September - 1st October 2004

As beginning step in our project, we all met in Gdansk – Poland this year, for our first project meeting.
We met from September 27th to October 1st.
Our group was composed of at least two teachers from each country, some head teachers and two children coming from each country, hosted in Polish families.
So the children’s group was quite large: 10 foreign children plus the Polish hosting children.
We visited the school in Gdansk, we worked together with the children on our project, we were all involved in workshops in the old Gdansk shipyard, we learned new Polish dances, we visited a national park and we saw the Baltic sea.
Some photos here below would like to show how amazing and exciting was our meeting there, but they will hardly express the enthusiasm and joy of our children.

Which Project activities are we going to do in the year 2004/05 till February 1st.

We met in Poland at the end of September for the coordinating meeting and we decided together with children:

- to settle pen pal correspondence by post and email among all of vvthe participating countries
- to celebrate each countries national day by displaying a board at aaschool with the national flags, information about the countries aahow and why they are celebrating the day,

To give the students a questionnaire to evaluate their knowledge about our project and EU Celebrating the Comenius week:

· Information about our project
· Information about the participating countries
· To settle a competition of drawings to represent the title- logo of aaour project

-exchange a traditional Christmas carol from each country with a akaraoke–version and a common song sang in the mother tongue
-exchanging cards and small presents for school -comparing ainformation about traditional Christmas’ customs
-exchanging and comparing school timetables

Which activities are planned for the rest of the year 2005?

Drawing and explaining traditional carnival dresses and masks , making carnival masks, exchanging photos of the school carnival
Teacher exchange from Cyprus to Italy and vice versa
Evaluation meeting with children in Cyprus
Easter time: focus on the customs similarities and differences
Celebrating Italian national day
May 1st-traditions, if there are any drawing pictures
Knowing Hungarian day of birds and trees
Knowing Cyprus water festival
Giving evaluation questionnaire and compare the results:
